A British Airways Airbus A320 on it’s final approach to London-Heathrow has hit an object that is most likely a(n) UAV. This would the first incident that an airliner hit a(n) UAV. There have been a bunch of close ones though. Thankfully, this aircraft landed safely in Heathrow Airport. A BA spokeswoman said:

Safety and security are always our first priority and we will give the police every assistance with their investigation.

Drones are not allowed to fly higher than 122 metres/400 feet. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said:

It is totally unacceptable to fly drones close to airports and anyone flouting the rules can face severe penalties including imprisonment.

Drones are prevented from flying within a 5 metre radius of an airport. At the moment, 406,000 people use drones in the UK.
